What happens if I send less SOL than the swap address expected

The swap will fail. You do not get your tokens swapped, and you do not get a refund automatically. The exchanger treats the transaction as incomplete, and the SOL you sent is effectively lost to the swap address.

You send from your own wallet straight to the exchanger — nothing to connect, no account, and you stay on this page throughout. Rates are indicative until a swap is opened.

The swap is carried out by an independent exchanger and the deposit address above is theirs. cryptoswifties.xyz never holds, receives or controls your funds, has no key to that address, and earns a referral commission. Opening a swap sends your receiving address, IP, browser and timezone to the exchanger for their compliance checks; we store none of it. Check their terms, fees and country restrictions before sending anything.

Here is why. When you use an exchanger to move Solana-based assets across chains, the system generates a one-time deposit address. That address is tied to a specific order with a fixed amount. The exchanger watches for incoming transactions that match that amount exactly. If you send less, the software does not recognize the deposit as belonging to your order. The transaction sits in the deposit address, unclaimed.

The exchanger has no mechanism to process partial payments. It cannot calculate a prorated swap, because the order was created for a precise quantity. The instructions encoded in the swap order assume the full amount arrives. When it does not, the order remains open for a timeout period - typically a few hours - then expires. After expiration, the deposit address is deactivated. Any funds still in it are not returned to you automatically.

Some exchangers have a manual recovery process. You can contact customer support, provide the transaction ID, and request a refund. But this is not guaranteed. The exchanger's terms usually state that underpayments are forfeit. The recovery process, if it exists, may take days and may involve a fee. The SOL you sent is not insured, and the exchanger is not obligated to chase underpayments.

The reason this matters for swapping Solana tokens without a DEX is that the exchanger's model is built on trust in automation. Unlike a DEX, where a smart contract executes a swap exactly proportional to what you send, the exchanger uses a fixed-order system. The deposit address is a temporary mailbox. Once the order is created, the system stops listening for alternative amounts. Sending less is like mailing a letter with insufficient postage: the letter arrives, but it is not delivered.

To avoid this, always double-check the amount before sending. The exchanger displays the exact SOL required. Copy that number, not an estimate. If you are sending from a wallet that rounds or truncates, use the precise decimal places shown. A difference of 0.0001 SOL can cause the same failure.

If you realize you sent too little immediately - within minutes - you might be able to cancel the order before the deposit address is used. Some exchangers allow order cancellation while the address is still active. If you cancel in time, the address is invalidated before the transaction confirms, and the SOL might bounce back to your wallet. This depends on the wallet and network; it is not reliable.

The safest path is to send the exact amount. If you cannot, do not send anything. Wait, generate a new order, and send the correct amount to the new address. The old address will expire unused.
